Frequently Asked Questions
Where are you located?
Westbrook Therapy is located in suite 200 on the south end of the Timber Grove Lakes office building at 889 N. Maize Rd. The office building is on the west side of Maize between Central and 119th street, just south of Swanson Park. Bathrooms are located in the main part of the building on the 1st and 2nd floors, and the elevator is on the north side of the building.
How do I check in?
Our office does not have a check-in desk. When you arrive, please help yourself to complimentary water, tea or coffee and have a seat in the lobby. I will come out and greet you at your appointed session time and we can take care of payment and scheduling at that time.
What will my therapy session be like?
A therapy session lasts for a clinical hour (50 minutes). The first session is an intake session where we will go over the initial paperwork and I will share with you an overview of how I do therapy, allowing for any questions or concerns you may have. We will then start to discuss why you are seeking therapy at this time. From there, we will continue to talk about your life experiences, presenting issues, background and history, as well as collaboratively identify your therapy goals. Once your goals for therapy are identified, we will get to work reaching them!
How much will my sessions cost?
Session costs may vary based on a client’s insurance coverage, copays, and deductibles. We can discuss your insurance coverage and copay during your initial phone consultation. I also accept private pay at a rate of $150 per session.
I currently accept BCBS, Ambetter, Aetna Better Health, Sunflower Healthplan, KMAP, and UHC Medicaid.
Do you provide custody evaluations?
I do not. In keeping with the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapist Code of Ethics, I do not perform evaluations for the custody, residence, or visitation of minors. This ensures potential conflicts of interest are avoided and allows the therapeutic relationship to remain focused on the client’s therapy goals.
Do you offer telehealth?
Yes, when necessary. I know that being in person for a session is not always possible. Video sessions are available through a secure an HIPAA compliant platform. I do not offer telehealth for children at this time and phone sessions are not available.
How can I reach you outside of a session?
This is something we can discuss during your intake session. I am not immediately available to respond to phone calls or emails. However, I check for messages frequently and can typically respond within 24 hours. You will also have access to a secure client portal where you can message me and confirm appointments. I cannot manage crisis situations or provide therapy services over the phone. If you have an emergency, please call 911.
What are your credentials?
I am a clinically licensed marriage and family therapist (LCMFT) in the state of Kansas. I received my Masters degree in marriage and family therapy from Friends University, and my bachelor of science from Kansas State University. My training is systemically based, which means I provide therapy from a relational perspective. In other words, we spend time talking about the relationships in your life, past and present, that may be affecting the way you relate to others. I enjoy working with children and have over 100 hours of training in various play therapy techniques. I also enjoy working with adults, couples, and families.
How do we get started?
Please complete the contact form letting me know that you are interested in starting therapy with me. I will reach out within two business days to set up a free phone consultation to find out if Westbrook Therapy would be a good fit. I may not be the right therapist for you, and that’s okay! I’ll be happy to talk to you about your needs and offer possible referral options that might be a better match. If we decide to schedule an intake session, I will send you an invitation via email to create a secure client portal where you will be able to fill out the necessary paperwork to get started.
